Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone!  May all your wishes and dreams come true in 2016 :).

To start 2016 off, I decided to tat Robin Perfetti's Frauberger Doily pattern.  You can find more information about the doily on Robin's Tatting by The Bay blog here and the computerise diagram here.

Round 1 of Robin Perfetti's Frauberger Doily

I really like Robin's colour scheme of white with variegated thread and how she does each round of this doily.  Hopefully she doesn't mind that I copied both :).  For mine, I am using Lizbeth #20 white thread and #115 Springtime.  I'm really enjoying tatting this pattern.  Quick and easy :).  Currently up to last round (round 3).

That's it for now.  Thanks for visiting my blog :).

Cheers,
Jenn :).

  2. Happy New Year Jenn! I've been copying monedido's color schemes, and I think she drew inspiration from Sherry Towsend's rendition of the Corona doily. It spreads like wildfire :)

A quick note, since I haven't gotten around to typing up detailed instructions for this doily. In Round 3, I tat 7 DS then 1 Catherine Wheel Join before the floating trefoil (which adds up to the stitch count of 8 that you see in the diagram). Right after the trefoil, I tat another Catherine Wheel Join followed by 7 DS. If you aren't using Catherine Wheel Joins, I'd suggest changing the 8's in that part of the diagram to 7's, so that the outer chain isn't too big. Hope that all makes sense!

    1. Thanks Robin :). I'm not surprised as it is a gorgeous colour scheme :).

Thanks for the extra note for round 3. Makes total sense :). I did wonder about what join you used. I tried both shuttle join and Catherine Wheel join. I went with Catherine Wheel join but after the trefoil. I also decreased the ds down to 7 (after trefoil).

I've only just started round 3. Trying to decide whether I should cut and start the round again or continue but do it the way you suggested and hope the ones I've done is similar looking.

    2. As long as you tighten the chain so that it fits somewhat snugly around the large ring, it should be fine.
