Starting another 25 Motif Challenge

I really enjoyed doing the 25 Motif Challenge and have decided to start another one.  I found it helped keep me motivated to do some tatting each month :).

For my first motif, I decided to tat the Happy Heart pattern which can be found on Le Blog de Frivole.  For this pattern, I finally figured out how to do the Catherine-Wheel Join!  Yay!  Not sure why I avoided learning until now!  I found these two Catherine-Wheel Join tutorials very helpful: Jane Eborall's and Marilee Rockley's tutorials.

That's it for now.  Thanks for visiting my blog :).

Cheers,
Jenn :).

P.S. for more info about the challenge, please visit 25 Motif Challenge blog :).

  1. It's always great to learn something new, isn't it :-) And luckily for us, there are some great resources to fall back on !

    1. Yes it's great to learn something new :). I suspect there are heaps of techniques for tatting that I haven't gotten around to learning it :).

    2. And the list keeps growing !!! Loads and loads of techniques waiting their turn ;-P
But I just wanted to add my own observation (based on my learning experience) --- once you've learned the CWJ, the same basic movements, the same logic seems to apply to Split Chains. At least to one of the methods . So in case you haven't this may be a good time to learn it while the CWJ is still fresh. Also the Lark’s head join.
I think some techniques should be "clubbed" together while learning.
Just sharing what worked for me. Please excuse the liberty.

    3. Thanks muskaan for your suggestions :). Now that you mentioned it, the CWJ does remind me of one of the methods for split chains from Karen C's YouTube videos :). Thanks for letting me know about the Lark's head join being similar! Will look that up and try find a motif pattern using it :).
